Welcome to the home of Art Beat!
Thanks for dropping by.

Imagine a circle of people: ten... fifty... a hundred? Seated around are adults and children with a variety of intriguing instruments from around the world, smiles on faces, hands flying - drumming - or playing a selection of shakers, bells, even tuned plastic tubes. Each person contributes their own unique sound to the group, whether they are beginners or experienced players - all creating spontaneous, joyful, and thoughtful music.
Art Beat is based in Glasgow, and offers these 'interactive rhythm events' to all kind of populations throughout the UK and abroad: schools; community groups; team-building and special needs, ranging from 20 minute conference 'energisers' to longer projects and residencies. All instruments are provided - and a unique event assured!

However, there is more than just music at work - an event like this can allow us to communicate together in a way that is beyond words. This way of making music differs from 'learning the drums' in that the group is enabled to co-create music together. In fact, most of the skills used have little explicit connection to drumming at all: listening, responding, creating, awareness of a group and one's relationship within it - (click here to see what skills young people felt they used when they drummed together) almost opposite to the stereotypical image of the loud, uncontrollable drummer (just think of 'Animal' from the Muppets!).

What could rhythm do for you?
