As well as facilitating community rhythm circles, we have a strong commitment to widening their use, and in training others to lead them. Jane trained initially with Arthur Hull, the foremost exponent of drum circle facilitation, who developed a methodology of enabling people of any experience to play together, based on the quality of listening and relationship between the group members. Strong emphasis is placed on the quality of experience of the participants, and in valuing their unique contributions, which makes community drum circle facilitation an ideal tool to work with marginalised and disadvantaged groups, and learners of any age.
Added insight has been gained through Jane's work on her PhD, which aims to map the field and explain it to non-specialists, as well as identifying the potential uses and applications of accessible group musical interaction.
Jane can offer a training package tailored to your needs - whether as an introductory in-service workshop, or more involved consultancy which will enable you to set-up and deliver community rhythm circles in your field.
