Rhythms of the World

Music for social and communicative development...

A global look at drumming and rhythm. Experience and play unusual instruments, from the watery 'bwoop' sound of the clay Udu from Nigeria, to the drum language of the Turkish Darabuka, the irresistible beat of the West African Djembe - even musical frogs and tuned plastic tubes!

Learn about their cultural background; from the surprising differences in some rhythm cultures, to the surprising 'universalities' in others! Round off the workshop with a whole group music making session where everyone can play a part to create some truly 'world' music!

Depending on the length of the session, instrument making can also be included...
